Contact Lens Prescription
We can only process orders for contact lenses if we receive a copy of your recent Contact Lens Specification. (Please do not confuse it with your spectacle prescription).
It must show the following information:
- Date of your last eye examination. This should be no more than 12 months old. (This is to ensure that you have had your eyesight checked recently).
- The brand and type of lenses prescribed.
- The fitting and power details.
- Your optician's name and address
We can only supply the brand of lenses quoted on your contact lens specification (unless they are 'own-brand' lenses where we can supply the branded equivalent).
Please Fax your specification to us on: +44 (0)20 8654 3284
If you have had a recent eye test, but do not have your contact lens specification to hand we suggest you contact your optician or provide us with details of your optician, and we shall obtain your specification for you.
Understanding your Contact Lens Prescription
This is what a typical Contact Lens prescription looks like :
Eye : B.C/Dia/Power
Right : 8.60 / 14.00 / -2.50
Left : 8.60 / 14.00 / -3.50
The numbers above provide the base curve (BC), diameter (DIA) and power, of your lenses; if you wear Toric lenses, it will also contain the cylinder (CYL) and axis. If you are wearing bifocal contact lenses there will be an additional power correction ADD. If you are wearing coloured contact lenses the colour is also specified, this does not affect the prescription of the contact lens.
